The Best Gadget Expos to Travel to in 2020

There’s something irresistible about learning about the latest gadgets. Perhaps it’s the sheer innovation that the designers display, or the idea of pushing technology to limits; or even just the joy of knowing you’ve seen it before everyone else!

If you’re a major gadget fan, then it’s worthwhile attending at least one expo in 2020. Here’s a round-up of some of the best events in the UK, plus a few that are further afield too.

London Tech Week

London Tech Week is an annual celebration of all things technological, and is due to take place from the 8th to 12th June, 2020. A series of events will be running throughout the week. These include:

  • Tech Night Party – A chance for people in the industry (and those that are passionate about gadgets) to network, while listening to a DJ and enjoying some drinks.
  • The AI Summit – This conference and expo provides attendees with the opportunity to hear about the latest developments in AI, from some of the world’s most well-known innovative companies, such as Microsoft, IBM, Amazon and Google.
  • China-UK Hi! Tech Festival (Tech for All) – Tech for All connects Chinese and British tech companies, and showcases the latest industry trends.

Bristol Anime and Gaming Con

This event happens in November, and is believed to be taking place again in 2020. It’s a fun-filled celebration of all things video-gaming related, with a healthy dose of anime thrown in for good measure.

For those who love finding out about the latest technological developments in gaming, this is a great event to attend. Several exhibitors will be there, showcasing the best new games, and also giving attendees the chance to test them out. There are also tournaments, and challenges on classic games such as Sonic Mania and Mario Kart.

Digital City Festival

Digital City Festival is a huge five-day event, held in Manchester. In 2020, it’ll be running from the 9th to the 13th March.

The highlight of Digital City Festival is the Digital City Expo, which is on the 11th and 12th. It’s the perfect place to view new gadgets from some of the world’s top developers, and to hear industry experts talk about various aspects of technology.

There are, of course, several more tech events taking place around the world in 2020. Here are a few of the best ones to check out.

Expo 2020 Dubai

Expo 2020 Dubai is scheduled to last an incredible 173 days. During this time, there will be over 60 shows and 15 hours of entertainment each day. The major thrust of the expo is to explore the future, and with a heavy focus on technology.

There are three themed districts for visitors to explore, and numerous gadgets on display. Attendees can learn more about 3D printing, for example, or view a screening on a 360-degree projection surface. There will also be an emphasis on creating a more sustainable future with technology, and exploring solutions to social issues. You can find out more about the expo here.

CEDIA Expo (USA)

CEDIA Expo is taking place in Denver, Colorado; from the 8th to the 12th September, 2020. It zones in on the home tech industry, such as smart products that can be used around the house. However, exhibitors will also be showcasing some health and wellness innovations, and the expo will have an area that’s dedicated to design.

Over 80 exhibitors were in attendance at the 2019 event, and 70% launched exclusive new products there. 2020 plans to extend this further, and will feature talks from key industry speakers.

Smartphone and Mobile Expo, Japan

Smartphones are continually becoming more sophisticated. Asia often leads the way in this market, and as such, if mobile devices are your passion, you may want to consider attending this expo. The Smartphone and Mobile Expo has been running for several years. In 2020, it will be held at Tokyo Big Sight (Koto), from the 8th to 10th April, and will feature several of the country’s major smartphone developers.
