How does gadget insurance work?
You select the device or devices you'd like to insure, choose your preferred type and level of cover, then pay a monthly or annual fee. Just like household contents insurance, you'll have to pay an excess in the event of a claim. However, gadget insurance excess is a lot less than contents insurance excess.
Does gadget insurance cover water damage?

Does gadget insurance cover a cracked screen?
All of our gadget insurance policies cover cracked phone screens.
What does my policy cover?
What your policy covers depends on the level of cover you have opted for. At Switched On Insurance, our Standard Cover includes accidental damage and breakdown, our Premium Cover adds device theft and our Ultimate Cover adds device loss.
With all our policies you're covered for repairs and replacements to your gadget's accessories and you're also covered when you're travelling abroad. The amount and duration of these varies according to the level of cover you've selected.
Our Premium and Ultimate packages include cover for unauthorised use and unauthorised e-wallet transactions in the event of theft or loss.
What devices do you insure?
We insure any make and model of mobile phone, with a maximum age of 36 months. You can also get cover for other devices such as tablets, laptops, PCs, e-readers, games consoles, cameras, sat-navs and wearable gadgets. Can I insure refurbished or second hand devices?
You can insure any devices, irrespective of where they were purchased, if they are refurbished or second hand. This means whether you've bought your devices from eBay, Amazon, high street retailers or from friends, we'll be able to insure them.
How quickly will I be covered?
You are covered immediately once your payment has gone through. You'll be emailed a link to download your policy documents straight away but you won't have to wait for this for the cover to begin.
Who does my policy cover?
If you've chosen our Personal, Student or Business Cover your policy will cover you for the device you selected to insure.
If you've chosen a Family Bundle, this will cover all the devices you selected to insure, regardless of which member of the family uses them.
